Eligibility

1.1.1  Full-Term Scholarships & Awards (Education Merit Scholarship / Teaching Scholarship / Teaching Award

Applicant must:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen at point of offer 

  • Be a well-rounded individual with good academic and co-curricular activities (CCA) records

  • Have GCE A-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, Polytechnic Diploma, NUS High School Diploma or equivalent qualifications

  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    1.1.2 Mid-Term Scholarships & Awards (Education Merit Scholarship / Teaching Scholarship / Teaching Award)

    Applicant must:

    • Be a Singapore Citizen at point of offer

    • Be currently pursuing relevant teaching subjects at a local or overseas university

    • Submit the application before the final year of your undergraduate studies

    • Demonstrate strong passion for, and understanding of, the Education Service

    • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential

    To ensure sufficient breadth and depth in your subject content knowledge as required for teaching, your course of study should be of relevance to a teaching subject, such as these subject areas:

    • Art and Music

    • Humanities

    • Languages

    • Mathematics

    • Physical Education and Sports Science

    • Sciences

    • Social Sciences

    *Note: Applicants who wish to pursue other similar courses of study may still apply for the MOE Teaching Scholarship/Award. We will advise you subsequently on the subject(s) that you can be assigned to teach.

    The Education Merit Scholarship and Teaching Scholarship are tenable for undergraduate studies at reputable overseas or local universities, while the Teaching Award is tenable for undergraduate studies at reputable local universities only.

    All MOE Teaching Scholarship and Award holders are eligible to enrol in the 4-year double major NTU-NIE Bachelor of Arts/Science (BABSc) programme, which provides both an academic degree in arts or science-based subjects and a teaching qualification. Those enrolled in the BABSc will not be required to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
